The YMCA is one of the most recognizable names in the fitness industry, but for this campaign we were charged to go beyond the “gym speak” and communicate to people about wellness and health in a direct, relatable and get-off-your-couch-and-get-to-a-YMCA way. There’s plenty of “fitspiration” and gym-rat clutter in fitness advertising, but rarely do gyms speak to everyday situations like having to go see the doctor knowing you haven’t worked out in years, or spending more time playing sports virtually than in real life.
